The Neshoba County Fair proved quite eventful for the Waltons. We got about 100 feet from our truck and a terrible storm blew up. We ran back to the truck just in time to avoid being drenched by the rain. We spent about 30 minutes in the parking lot waiting out the lightning and rain before we finally made it in. Our first stop was at the family cabin where we got to visit with some of our favorite cousins!
We eventually made our way over to Happy Hollow to see the Yates and the Harrises. Riley had a great time playing with Haley and Reed on the porch. Then we made a trip up to the petting zoo. Riley thought that was just pretty cool. When he went in to pet the cow, he squatted down close to its ear and said "moooo." Too cute! Mr. Rob held a little chick so he could pet it and he went right after the poor bunnies. His favorite was the sweet little colt that had way too much energy to be cooped up in that tiny pen. I spent the better part of the trip trying to keep his hands out of his mouth - ugh!
Only a funnel cake could top all that excitement! He really enjoyed that (I didn't give him that much, Mom!). The carnies kept trying to get us to play the games to win him a bunny or a fish or even an iguana. Who decided these were "prizes"? Certainly not parents of small children!
We enjoyed a WONDERFUL meal back at the cabin, made a quick sweep through Founders' Square to enjoy some live music, and then headed home.
It's always a fun time at the Fair...
